An Afternoon to Remember:
Greg Vaughan

with Special Guest
KELLY MONACO

A General Hospital weekend wouldn't be complete without an event with the handsome and electric Greg Vaughan. For the past 5 years (if my memory serves me correctly) Greg has had his own event and each year the ticket sales continue to sky rocket. This is one event that I look forward to each year.

As the fans were mingling around and enjoying the delicious desserts of cakes, fruit and other various treats, Greg was announced to his loyal fans. Of course you couldn't hear Greg through the thunder of applaud and screams as he greeted his fans. Greg's fans are as loyal as the come and you see familiar faces year after year. This only goes to show how popular this actor is and how dedicated his fans are.

Greg started off with his thank you to his fans and his appreciation that they come from far and wide each year just to see him. Before Greg could get into any Q&A his special guest, Kelly Monaco arrived, gorgeous as ever as she brought the house down. The combination of these two on stage and on the show can not be denied as many fans made it clear that it was time for Lusam to get a story.

Kelly mentioned how happy she was to be able to join Greg and how she loved working with him and it was obvious to everyone that the feeling was mutual. Kelly mentioned she did a Animal Planet segment and loved working with the animals and was asked later to host the show which she gladly accepted.

Then came the questions fans were dying to know. Will there be a story finally for these two? And at the same time both actors said the same thing, laughed and clicked pinkies. Greg said yes that a huge story was coming for the couple that had to do with the clinic and the bogus meds that have been circulating through Port Charles. Greg also mentioned this story would involve many other members on canvas and that this would go on for some time. It seems that since the Port Charles PD can not solve any crimes it was time to bring in Lucky and Sam. The crowd totally agreed!  Greg mentioned that many may not have realized but the Mexico story was actually shot in Mexico and for money being so tight they both were shocked that TPTB actually paid for them to stay there for a weeks shoot. They had a ball!

Fans asked if Sam would go back to her roots and be the character she was when she first came on the show and she replied Absolutely!!! She is looking forward to being the character with some balls and not such a cry baby as they had her when she was coupled with Jason and Sonny. She felt Sam was boring and had no back bone. She also made it a point to let the fans know she is NOT pregnant and has no plans to become pregnant, at least not in real life. By this time Greg had asked for a Corona and offered Kelly one which she refused. But later on Kelly started drinking margaritas and then the fun began. They talked about certain scenes and one in particular where Kelly and Greg had to do a love scene. Kelly made mentioned that she hated taking her clothes off and if was far easier to just pull her skirt up and pull her panties aside. Well let me tell you she had the crowd on the floor in stitches. Of course this was only a joke ( or was it) but it was one that will stay with the fans for some time to come.

They talked about how the show needs balance and not so much mob story which may or not be since Bob Guza loves working the mob story. But they were both thankful that the other big story will be about the clinic and that they are in it. Someone asked if Kelly could choose someone from the show to be her father and with no hesitation she immediately said Jon Lindstorm who played Kevin Collins on the show. As I thought about it as did the fans it was clear this would be the right choice. Now if only the writers could think in this direction and approach Jon for the show. Greg made mention of Genie Francis's return and was looking forward to working with her again. He has nothing but the utmost respect for the Emmy winning actress and all of the cast.

Time started to pass by quickly and it was time for the fans to meet and greet Kelly and Greg. Many all ready know what a huge baseball fan Greg is and every year his fans bestow him with gifts. This year one fan presented him with Yankee paraphernalia. Greg was beaming and loved how much his fans think of him.

As I headed out to allow the fans to enjoy their time with the two I managed to get a few minutes with Kelly and thank her for attending Greg's event. We talked about her official website which hasn't been updated due to a personal  situation and decided to get back in touch in a few weeks and solve the situation. She mentioned how she loves coming to Greg's event and was thrilled that the fans have accepted the couple. This is one cool broad and I look forward to seeing Greg and Kelly in their own story. Finally!!! I tried to say goodbye to Greg but he was surrounded by women which he seem to be enjoying and knew I would catch up with him later that weekend. But just in case you read this Greg thank you once again, and maybe next year we can see you in that bathrobe again!!!

Once again Debbie O has put on another great event, how this woman does it year after year better from the last one is beyond me, but thank you Debbie!!!
