Hi, yesterday I clicked on this link http://www.nbcsandiego.com/51918/page.html and took thirty seconds to send off a quick email message that would be forwarded to our deployed troops.  I had no idea how much it would mean to them!  By the time I got home from shooting last night, I had over 90 email replies from service men and women, and they are still coming in!  Can't believe what a response this is bringing -- and how much it meant to them to write and say two simple words: "THANK YOU!" for what they are doing for us.

Thousands of San Diego-based sailors and Marines will spend the holidays in foreign waters aboard U.S. warships deployed in the Persian Gulf and the Western Pacific. NBC 7/39 has contacted all of the deployed ships and most have responded, saying they would love to hear from the folks back home during the holidays. These are men and women who are far away from their homes and their country, who have put themselves at risk for us.  Imagine how lonely they are, how strange it must be to be far from home, especially at this time of year. They are willing to do this just so that we can enjoy the freedoms and liberties we have in this country.

So, while we are enjoying our own holiday traditions and being with our loved ones....we need to remember to send prayers and thanks to those who are not here simply because they are doing what must be done. Please join me and take the time to click on the link above and send off your own email of thanks and support.

God bless you and God bless America

Happy holidays...
love,
Barbara

ps -- I am also the National Spokesperson for Homefront Headquarters at http://www.homefronthq.com/, which provides support from home for our deployed troops.  Check out their site and find out other ways you can help give support from back home....you can adopt a soldier, have your children's classrooms be involved in sending Christmas cards, etc.  Get involved!   And if you know a Veteran or someone in the military, remember to say "thank you."   It means more to them than we can ever know.  Thanks!
