Hi, I'm Carol, and surprise, I'm not always in an Oakdale state of mind!
Sometimes I'm in a teacher state of mind, a family state of mind, and
an actress state of mind. I was even in a military state of mind for four
years.
I've been a teacher for almost 30 years now, busily molding the minds of
America's young. My students are all teenagers, who are some of the coolest
people on the planet. My own two children are both grown and out on their
own, so it's just my husband, the dogs and cats, and myself at home now. My
daughter got me onstage at the local community theater almost 10 years ago,
and now I'm a regular in the chorus of every musical that comes along. I also
spent four years in the US Army, time that challenged me mentally and
physically.
But I come by my Oakdale state of mind naturally. I can remember my mother
watching Nancy and Alma Miller talking over a cup of coffee, then calling my
aunt to discuss the show. I can still see teenaged Bob Hughes slouched on the
couch, Grandpa Hughes with his cup of coffee (the best way to cool off on a
hot morning!) and Penny and Ellen getting into and out of trouble. Over the
years I've watched other soaps, while I became a newlywed, a mother, a
teacher, an army sergeant, and an amateur actress. But As the World Turns
brings me back to Oakdale every time.
