VIEW FROM THE VALLEY
Love’s a bloomin…..

Finally I’m glad to see a
little bit of lovin back in Pine Valley again.

Valentine’s day is for lovers, or that’s at least the concept that the retail
and greeting card industries want us to buy into. It’s hard to believe that one
day out of each year is delegated to show the one you love that you, well love
them. Does that mean the 364 other days of that year, you don’t love your spouse
or significant other or are we just not supposed to tell them during those
days.
I
guess not telling those you love and care about how you feel about
them, was one of the gripes that I had towards All My Children
over the last few years. Yes, we had our couples (some of them
forced together by the mindset of the writing regime at the time)
but we never really had any “love in the afternoon,” a staple that
daytime was known for. Instead, we were provided with gloom and doom
and had to endure as some of our favorite couples were ripped apart
or had more permanent goodbyes.
But
lately, seems things to have changed and the love in the afternoon and focus
on couples has become prevalent once again. I’m glad that someone,
somewhere at this show sees grasps this concept and is actually giving us
couples we want to see together (and some interesting pairings at that I
might add).
Finally, I have some couples on this show that I can actually root
for being together….example, Greenlee and David. When I first heard the
news that Rebecca Budig was OFFICIALLY returning to the show, I somewhat
gagged at the thought of having round 3 of “Rylee”. I’m sorry but I just
could not stand watching Greenlee and Ryan giving each other those sappy
looks of love and I certainly do NOT believe that Greens was Ryan’s true
love, nor do I think he was hers.
So I bet you can imagine my surprise and happiness when it was
revealed that the show was pairing Greenlee and David together. I’ve always
thought Budig and Vincent Irizarry shared an undeniable chemistry with one
another and wondered what a romance between the former in-law’s would indeed
be like.
David
seems to be the one man Greenlee could trust and open up too since the death
of her beloved Leo. Furthermore, David is the only man that is able to put
up with Greens bull and dish it right back to her. Yes, I know their
marriage is one of revenge and was Greenlee’s way of hurting Ryan as much as
he hurt her by cavorting with Kendall and then Erica, but to be honest I’m
LOVING what I am seeing between them.
Something tells me that these two will be the next “Zendall” and the
marriage of convenience between the two of them will actually turn into one
of love and mutual respect and in the meantime I’m going to enjoy watching
this pairing unfold.
And
perhaps while Greens and David are busy falling in love, her papa Jackson
will work out his issues with ex-wife Erica and the two of them will
reunite. I never understood the reason why the show chose to split up Erica
and Jackson, these two are meant for each other and have weathered
multitudes of storms and always come out stronger and better than ever.
Now
that Walt Willey is back (even though it is recurring), I’m hoping our new
writing staff will explore reuniting the former spouses and have them
actually deal with the issues that tore their marriage apart in the first
place……something that is not done in daytime. Jackson and Erica have the
potential of being the matriarch and patriarch of this show, now that Ruth
and Joe Martin have moved off to warmer climates.
Speaking of couples who have a long history with one another, I’m
enjoying the blossoming romance between Tad Martin and Liza Colby. Yes I
know Liza has a new face, but the history between the two character’s, not
to mention the fact that Knight and Luner ooze chemistry make this couple
worth pursuing in my eyes.
Besides could imagine the reactions of Opal, Colby, Adam, Krystal
and the rest of Pine Valley when news broke that Tad and Liza were an
item? Something tells me that Liza would kick Krystal outta Tad’s house
and the green-eyed monster would rear it’s ugly head, especially if Liza
began to bond with little Jenny and Kate.
This pairing might open the door for Krystal to reunite with her
former husband Adam Chandler. I might have been in the minority, but I
enjoyed the pairing between Krystal and Adam. Bobbie Eakes and David Canary
seemed to have fun and enjoy their scenes together, thus contributing to the
chemistry and dynamics they shared.
Is Krystal the former leading lady that Adam would reunite and
leave town with? I would hate for the show to lose Bobbie Eakes, but let’s
face it Krystal has had very little to do in Pine Valley as of late and I’ve
always thought that their might be some unfinished business between Adam and
Krystal.
After all, Adam is going to kick Annie to the curb once he figures out she
has been cavorting with his nephew Scott. While I enjoyed the concept
and thought between the Annie and Adam pairing/marriage, I found it somewhat
odd that the show would go this route with these two.
I
mean Annie and Adam had no interaction or no real connection until she
attempted to take Emma and hide out in the Chandler mansion. Why would Adam
be so inclined to help Annie? If they wanted to give him a romance with a
young starlet on the show, why not make it Amanda, Kendall or even Greenlee
for that matter? Adam at least has some type of connection with these
three young ladies.
As
for Annie and Scott, I’m curious to see how the romance between the two of
them plays out. Could Annie end up pregnant after their roll in the hay with
one another? Hmmm something tells me we could have a little office romance
going on here with the two them and that folks could be quite entertaining!
Ahhh yes love….we all need a little bit of lovin in our afternoons
and now it appears we’ve got it….now let’s just keep it.

Valley? Is their a couple that intrigues you? Is their a couple you would
like to see together? Click on the email link below and send me your
