WHERE THE STARS SHINE

The doctor is in — and he's looking just like Cruz Castillo! That much-loved Emmy winner A Martinez of Santa Barbara fame is joining The Bold and the Beautiful for a guest stint starting February 9. His character, Dr. Ramon Montgomery, will be introduced as a close friend and personal physician to wily Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), who has a big mess on his hands. By the time Ramon hits the scene, sexypants Amber (Adrienne Frantz) will be claiming that Bill's son Liam (Scott Clifton) is her baby daddy. Bill wants Ramon to conduct an independent paternity test to find out if Amber is telling the truth.

As of now Martinez's gig runs four episodes, but B&B exec producer Brad Bell tells TV Guide Magazine that he hopes there will be more. "I've admired A's acting for years and he is as good as it gets," Bell says. "I look forward to seeing what he brings to the role."

The B&B scripts establish Ramon and Bill as "very tight — in fact, they recently vacationed together in Aspen," says Martinez. "Ramon is willing to clear his schedule and step in to accommodate his friend and make a problem go away." Meaning he'd do something dishonest? Or is Amber's scheming mom Tawny (Andrea Evans) one step ahead of Dr. Ramon?
