Hi, I'm Dawn,
a new addition to the Soaptown USA family, and the author of Salem Place, a Days
Of Our Lives column.I was born in Europe and
raised in Newport News, Virginia and I still live there, along with my cats and
my soap obsession. I'm a bartender (and occasional waitress) at a locally owned
sports bar called RJ's, which helps feed not only me and my cats, but my other
obsession: football! No truth to the urban legend that I was not at my high
school homecoming dance because I was on the phone taking bets on the football
game.
I have been
watching soaps forever, or just as long, anyway. I missed quite a few classes in
high school so I wouldn't miss a minute of the Ice Princess story on GH, and
when Texas was moved to 11am, hell I just skipped school althogether! Thus began
a love affair with daytime that continues to this day. I loved Port Charles
(sniff!) and I have been watching Days Of Our Lives since the early 80's. My
first love was Guiding Light, which will always be dear to my heart. GH and Days
followed and of course, Port Charles. Actually, I have, at one time or another,
watched every show. I love good storytelling and I'll tune in to whatever soap
has grabbed my attention.
When I'm not
glued to the TV watching soaps, I'm glued to the TV watching....football! I have
even done the unthinkable: forsaken my beloved Jon Robert Lindstrom and his PC
scenes in favor of a football game that was too exciting not to watch. Not that
Mr. Lindstrom doesn't excite me....(Dawn is swooning and can't type at the
moment).
A big huge
"thank you!" goes out to Nina for allowing me the opportunity to join the staff
here at Soaptown USA. I met Nina at the GH/PC fan club weekend this year and
she's the kind of opinionated spitfire I love to call a friend.
I hope
everyone enjoys reading Salem Place and don't be afraid to write to me and let
me know your opinions. I would love to hear from you!
Dawn
