Once again, I'm making an attempt to write a column where I'm
drawing a blank on last week's happenings. That could be because
nothing of note is really standing out for me.
Let's see... for some reason (sorry, I didn't quite catch it) Lucky
and Sam are in Mexico and Sam just got arrested because she decked
that cloying bitch who kept calling her Cindy. The so-called cops
(let's make Mexico look bad, shall we?) say they'll keep Sam locked
up for a week or so because she's "nice to look at." Tell me that
ain't a scary thought. So Lucky being Lucky, he proceeds to level
the smarmy bastard and now he's probably going to jail too. Sounds
interesting - but not really. For one thing, Sam's scamming past was
obviously put on the shelf, why bother to bring it up now? You
people really are pressed for story ideas for this character, aren't
you? If viewers are expecting some kind of romantic adventure for
Lucky and Sam, they may find themselves sorely disappointed, since
the show has already kicked it off with sinister elements and a
replay of a past story. I'm half-expecting Sam to say something
like, "I deserve (insert precarious situation here) because of
(insert misdeed here) and Lucky will go running back to Elizabeth."
That's not good.
Other than Spinelli pretending to be some English count or something
for the sole purpose of trying to put one over on Gisele, I've got
nothing. It was cute while it lasted but then Spinelli turned into
blathering mush as soon as Maxie showed up. Men do not behave in
this manner no matter how lovesick they may be. They still are able
to recall how to form intelligible sentences and even have been
known to have a rational thought or two. They normally do not allow
their minds to turn to the consistency of soggy corn flakes whilst
in the presence of their beloved. We get it though: Spin is not your
normal type of guy but he's also not stupid. Geek is loveable -
fragile geek is not. Give this kid some backbone - he had to have
picked up a thing or two being Jason's best friend, right? And I
don't mean having a way with the ladies, I mean being able to find
the inner strength (from somewhere) to deal with problems and
situations without becoming a babbling fool in the process. I'm
still disturbed by the way Mr. Big Bad Ass Sonny screamed at him a
few weeks ago. I don't want to see Spinelli humbled and humiliated
like that ever again. I'm beginning to think that Spin and Sam
should seriously consider forming a support group, or at least
enrolling at Step On Me State University so they can both learn not
to treat themselves like put-upon doormats.
Once again, I beg of GH to put the Control Freak back in his natural
habitat pronto. I can't take much more of Sonny twiddling his thumbs
and trying to be "normal." Normal has never played on Sonny and it
doesn't play on him now. He is who he is - a mobster. And I'm still
wondering what good this is all going to do anyway. Sonny's enemies
are still Sonny's enemies and despite a piece of paper saying
otherwise, he is still a father. I don't see this working, to be
honest. If the characters on this show could solve all their
problems with a signature, we wouldn't have anything to watch.
Although Jason seems to be perfectly capable of running the business
by himself - mainly because he leaves his emotional baggage at the
door - it's no fun that way. We can't rid ourselves of anyone named
Zacchara if Sonny is out playing golf or something and making his
pitiful attempt to be just one of the legit guys.
Some fans have written to me praising the potential pairing of
Nikolas and Claudia. Okay, yes it has shades of interest - several
in fact. With Claudia, Nik can just be himself, in true Cassidine
form. I'm giddy at the idea of wondering what Helena would make of
Claudia, oh please let us find out. I'm groveling here. Claudia is
no saintly Emily nor is she gentle Nadine. I like Claudia. She kicks
booty. And I'd dare say could easily stand up to Hells with
absolutely no problem whatsoever. Having said that, easy there,
Tigress. If you're interested in sinking your claws into Nikolas,
you are not endearing yourself to him by telling Nadine that she's
out of his league and things like that. Just let what happens happen
- why do people insist on forcing these issues?
