Well, my darlings, I appreciate the responses to my best and
worst column. Surprisingly, a large number of you whole-heartedly
agreed with pretty much all of it - a feat in it's own right.
Usually I get a few "what are you smoking?" emails whenever I sum up
the year's events and that didn't happen this time, again, a feat in
it's own right.
So let us commence with the commentary, complete with appropriate
song titles and/or lyrics that befits the situation.
If
I ever catch up with you: I think "All I Need is a
Miracle" pretty much sums up this entire mess. Okay then, we seem to have a few people playing twister when it
comes to Michael and his killing of Claudia. First the brat was
proud of the feat. Now he feels guilty. I can overlook that part
actually because it's not unusual for someone his age to have their
emotions change on a dime like that. What I had trouble wrapping my
mind around was Sonny's reasons for Michael keeping quiet. He kept
trying to convince the kid that what he did was not so bad but you
can't tell anyone because it was actually very bad. At least that's
the mixed message I was getting and if it confuzzled the hell out of
me, I'm sure Michael's head must be spinning right about now. To put
it in perspective - aw hell, better just take notes: When Michael
was gloating about offing Claws, the people around him were
basically telling him that he was wrong to feel that way and that he
did in fact take a life. Now Michael is feeling awful for his
actions (as he should) and what is he hearing? You did it for this,
and this and it happened because of that, you were so this and
Claudia was totally that. Okay.
And then there's Maude. The point is, none of this is going to go
away until it's dealt with in a manner that is appropriate, and I
don't mean trying to sweep it under the rug. "You'll have that
stigma of killing someone attached to you if you confess," so spake
Sonny. What about the guilt Michael is feeling that is consuming him
one piece at a time?
I'm
that little bit of hope: A lot of history turned up on this show this past week, like that
enjoyable conversation between Steve and Robin. Please don't throw
things at me for saying this, but I was kind of digging these two. I
know Robin is eternally tied to Patrick but happy home with white
picket fence doesn't exactly make for interesting storytelling.
Anyway, while in conversation, we got mention of Noah (sigh!) and
Patrick's transition from med school lothario to happy househusband.
Robin is actually hanging out with this Lisa chick and either can't
or won't see a possible threat coming from her. It's all sunshine
and butterflies with Robin and Patrick, or at least it seems to be,
telling me that something is bound to happen to rock their happy
world. I'm just wondering when or if this is ever going to happen
because, as of now, interesting they ain't.
Robin pointed out that Patrick is a perfectionist and she is right -
it drives him bananas when someone tells him that he is wrong or
that they can do something better than he can. He's "The World's
Greatest," or at least he thinks he is. I think that he's
wrong about Lisa but what do I know? As for Steve,
he has to do something besides stroll through the halls of GH and
looking fabulous while doing it.
I
say this guy, "This Guy's in Love With You:" 'Nuff said, I would
think. Franco has both Lulu and Sam trapped in rooms with devices that
are set to go off and Jason is desperate to get to them. But Freako
only wants to bask in the glory that is Stone Cold and orders him to
lay out his entire life story, so Jason does. "Killing people was
one thing I was good at," Jason admits. There was your first clue,
Sherlock. How do you know Jason ain't going to blast you to bits? Oh
wait, that seems to be what Franco wants. Oh, who am I kidding? I
haven't the foggiest what Franco wants. He seems to want to be like
Jason, and he also seems to want to make Jason suffer, God only
knows why. Personally I think Franco has a mad crush on Mr. Morgan
and that look of pure glee in his eyes when Jason was choking him
only proved my theory. It's love. It has to be, otherwise, why are
we bothering? Seeing this sick puppy putting the screws to Jason is
only interesting if we know why he's doing it and we don't. Maybe
he's just really weird - oh yeah, that's like saying, "OMG, there's a
sale at Haynes!" Of course Franco is weird. But why is he so weird
and why is he tormenting Jason? Get on with it, I don't know how
much I can take of the freakazoid.
