Boy, I took it on the chin for wondering about Olivia and Carly's
friendship because it seemed kind of sudden to me. Apparently they
have been pals the entire time Liv has been in Port Chuck and even
more apparently, my short-term memory has failed me again. Now I
recall them having a girl-chat or two, but I also recall Carly being
a little ticked off when Jax hired Olivia to work at the Metro
Court. I'm sorry, sometimes the old gray matter ain't what she used
to be. Now that we have that straightened out, Carly is going to
need someone to talk to because this situation with Michael is going
to be frustrating for her, to say the least.
Michael wants nothing to do with Carly, as we all know, and I'm
sorry again, but I have to call the brat to task because while Carly
can drive me crazy (a lot), she most certainly does not deserve
this. She was the one who refused to give up on Michael. She was the
one who agonized over his comatose condition and even we could feel
her horrifying sense of finality when Michael was moved to the long
care facility. Simply put, this ain't fair to Carly. This has got to
hurt like hell for her and yes, I feel bad for her. She was the one
who stated emphatically, "I'm not going to give up on Michael
because it's not fair to him," and that one sentence cleared up any
confusion I had about where Carly was coming from in regards to her
injured son. "She just gets me so mad sometimes," Michael says, "And
if she cared about me so much, then why is she having another baby
with Jax?" Heh? Obviously while Michael has grown physically since
he's been in a coma, his maturity hasn't moved.
To make matters worse, Michael has bonded with Claudia and now Sonny
is saying something along the lines of, "Maybe you are what Michael
needs right now." Oh my God. All I see now is Claudia taking
advantage of a situation, Sonny being alarmingly obtuse about this
(you KNOW she is responsible Sonny! - Oh God, please let there be
some eventual method to your madness) and Carly is being shunned by
Michael. It's not right, and knowing this show as I do, it's
probably simply a way to make Claudia look good. And here's another
thing. Michael got into the trouble he did because he took it upon
himself to be his mother's protector when Leticia and Emily were
killed by Diego. I just don't see this making any real sense, to say
nothing of the fact that Michael should not be rejecting the one
person who fought the hardest for him. Someone explain this to me.
In other show developments, I have to admit I am enjoying JaSam Part
Two: The New Friendship. I enjoy the fact that there is no romance
in the picture - it offers a fresh approach. I like watching them
work together either solving a mystery or working over some flunky
hired by Claudia. I have always liked Sam best when she is kicking
ass and seeing her team up with Jason is both unexpected and a
pleasure to watch, at least for me. Sam doesn't seem to have any
romantic notions towards Jason and he has none for her and that
works for me. Now should something redevelopment down the road? I
don't know but I do know that whatever happens, it will have a
strong foundation of mutual trust and friendship. There are not too
many of those friendships on this show.
And while seeing Holly again is always a bonus, I'm really beginning
to wonder about this Ethan being Luke's son nonsense. Somewhere
along the lines, the show is going to have to admit that none of
this could possibly be accurate because unlike the writers, we
actually watch this stuff. To suggest that Holly and Luke hooked up
during one of the strongest and happiest times in Luke and Laura's
history is nuts. Then there is Robert and Holly, whose romance
emerged from a deep and abiding friendship, and is also apparently
being reduced to rubble. Are we to believe anything that Holly is
saying? It makes zero sense. It's insulting to the characters and
the viewers, if you want to know the truth. I'm not saying Luke and
Laura are the holy grail and their story shouldn't be messed with,
but it also shouldn't be completely disregarded as the important
history that it is either, and that applies to Robert and Holly as
well. I have other thoughts but decorum prevents me from mentioning
them here, but let's just say they ain't nowhere near pretty.
