GH CHRONICLES

Just a Golden Moment

A quick look at GH and the Daytime Emmys.

So how about the Daytime Emmys? Once again, Best Actor honors were given to Tony Geary (Luke) and the show's Metro Court hostage crisis story helped them snap up the Best Show trophy. Geary can act circles around pretty much anyone, he's daytime royalty (if not the king) and you'd be mesmerized just watching him read a phone book. He is in a class by himself, end of story. I would've liked to have seen Geary joined by other deserving performers from GH who ended up being overlooked but that's another rant. Congratulations to Mr. Geary once again!

Best dressed for GH goes to Sonya Eddy (Epiphany) who was one foxy momma in ravishing purple. Wow. Some of our ladies made some unusual choices however - I failed to understand the jewelry choice of Megan Ward (Kate) but I'm trying. Becky Herbst (Elizabeth) looked darling and I understand she makes her own dresses. Lovely! Now I know who to call if I ever need an Emmy gown. Tiny piece of advice for our Becky: I would go with a smaller clutch next time - don't want your purse to be bigger than you, my dearest. Kirsten Storms (Maxie), who should've been a nominee and not just a presenter (there I go again) looked precious in a black and white mini dress. Black and white was the trend this year, it seems. Sarah Brown (Claudia) also made this choice and looked divine. Julie Marie Berman (Lulu) was stunning, but her elaborate dress and sexy hair seemed to be competing with each other. I would've chosen a sleeker hairstyle to keep attention on the dress. Just my very humble opinion but since I'm not a fashion critic, what do I know? I just calls 'em as I sees 'em. As for our guys, they all looked outrageously yummy, 'nuff said. When you are having hot flashes just looking at the photos, then what more is there to say?

Well I can say this: Is this show stuck in a time warp or something? A reader emailed me and begged me to tell her that Carly is not really going to be pregnant and that she is really not going to ask Jason to act as the father. Say what? I don't know for sure if that is actually going to happen but if it does, then the writers clearly need to get out more, lest their creativity flatlines. Have we or have we not already been there, done that and gotten this t-shirt? So lemme see if I have this straight, God help us all. Carly is going to claim one night stand with Jason and point the paternity finger at him to keep Sonny away from his possible unborn spawn? How close am I? You know, Carly's determination to protect her kids from Sonny is starting to border on whack job. What was wrong with naming Jax as the father, seeing that he is your husband? But again, I'm slightly out of the loop as far as this whole scenario goes so I don't actually know what is planning to air. But I do know that none of this sounds even remotely good. Is this actual story? Oh dear. What's that sound? That is the sound of TV sets being turned off all across this great land. Jason steps up to the daddy plate for Carly but still refuses to claim his real son? It's out of my hands.

Anyway, Friday's episode came across as a deliberate comedy of errors. Dare I say this show is displaying signs of lightening up? The quarantine scenes with Claudia, Jason and Spinelli were pretty funny and I still can't figure out how Bradford Anderson manages to spit out all that wordy ranting without tripping. Spinelli is once again kicking himself for being a failure, Jason seems to be getting a migraine and Claudia is watching in amusement. I like the gentleness she shows towards Spinelli, it's cute and kind of touching. What wasn't cute was the on-air pitch for that juice, we all know what it's called, that apparently half the cast swears by. I saw that and I was like, "Oh no. The nectar of the gods finally made it on the air." Next up is a sponge bath, administered by Claudia unto Jason and if his recoiling and protests are any indication, this should be classic.

Diane finds the ring that Sonny intended for Kate and mistakenly believes it's for her. "Drinks, Metro Court, NOW," she orders Alexis after announcing her engagement, which she was obviously not overjoyed about. Thankfully the misunderstanding was cleared up fairly quickly and both Max and Diane got out of a sticky situation with ease. I was also half expecting Carly to really go off on Jax after hearing about the brawl he got into with Jerry because of Alexis but she did me proud by honoring the occasion in an appropriate manner: By howling with laughter!
