Before we kick things off, I wanted to make mention of several
notable things. First off, Kin
Shriner (ex-Scotty), who has joined the cast of the online soap
"Gotham," and made his debut on Monday, January 18. "Gotham"
creator Martha Byrne (ex-Andrea Floyd) has promised that Shriner
will be rocking' the internet in his new role so be sure to check it
out! And our Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis), frustrated and
saddened by the tragedy in Haiti, gathered some of her daytime
friends (at literally the last minute) and headed over to the Rose
Bowl to assist KNBC in collecting donations for
the Red Cross. Many GH stars attended and through the magic of
Twitter, we were able to help Grahn send some Days stars over there
too. Good show!
For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why Lucky was still
being all googly eyed with Liz, yet be really ticked off at Nikolas.
Why not be mad at both of them? I didn't have to wonder long when
Lucky was greeted with the site of his brother and his fiancée in a
seriously passionate moment after Nikolas announced his plans to
move to France. Finally Lucky calls Liz on the carpet - thank God,
because even Lucky can't possibly be that easy. For a while there, I
was half expecting to see him being at home with the kids and when
Liz comes home, Lucky asks, "How was your date, dear?" Don't think
that possible scene didn't cross my mind because it did. I mean,
dude. Buy a clue, you can't be serious. But since that didn't
happen, now we have Lucky swigging back alcohol and hashing it all
out with Luke. Um, uh... dare I ask? Luke knows that Lucky is a
recovering addict. Why is he sitting there letting him drink?
On the one hand, I can see how Luke, who is anything if not
anti-establishment, would simply sit there and let Lucky express his
pain and, in doing so, give him understanding and not judgments.
Perhaps Luke instinctively knew that Lucky didn't need to hear any
lectures at that particular time. Luke was also never one to
actually listen to good advice that he knows would keep him healthy.
Looking past all that, what we got were scenes where we really got a
closer look at the relationship between Luke and Lucky. Luke knew
about Nikolas and Liz's relationship and, as he told Tracy, "I ran
because I couldn't bear to see him (Lucky) get crushed." These
scenes were well done, if not a little out of step, considering that
Luke and Lucky have not seen eye to eye in the recent past. It's
nice to know for certain that, despite his actions that may say
otherwise, Luke will go above and beyond for his kids and he really
does feel their pain right along with them.
Now we have Nikolas and Liz wringing their hands over Lucky
hitting the bottle (he nonchalantly took a shot of booze right in
front of a stunned Lulu) and wondering what could've possibly set
him off. Lucky asked Nikolas to stay in Port Charles, they wondered,
what went wrong? The gloves were off when a drunken Lucky finally
confronted the two people who jolted him back to reality and out of
his "adolescent fantasies." And what a jolt it was. "You don't love
me Elizabeth," Lucky stated bitterly, "Otherwise you wouldn't be screwing
my brother behind my back." Ouch.
Michael is a different story. In fact, he's a different story
every time I tune in, it seems. He has been alternating between both
remorse and pride over his role in Claudia's death. I say let the
brat take the heat for what the law deems fit for him if that will
shut him up, but I digress. Now Michael's attitude is coming with a
new spin. He thinks that Sonny is favoring Dominic over him and has
taken umbrage to the fact that Sonny won't leave organization to his
own son. Was there talk about Sonny handing over the whole deal to
someone else? Never mind that, Sonny has made it clear as crystal
that Michael will never be a part of Sonny's organization (and with
good reason, I might add) and Michael is taking offense to that.
For starters, little Mikey, how is anyone supposed to take you
seriously as a future crime lord when you look like you're twelve?
How is anyone supposed to take you seriously as a future crime lord
when you ACT like you're twelve? Sonny kept saying no, no, no. And
what did Michael say? He pointed out that he took a bullet for
Sonny, and killed Claudia. Oy vey. Far beyond Sonny not wanting
Michael to follow in his footsteps is the fact that the ingrate is a
loose cannon. You'd need a score card to keep track of Michael's
moods and emotions (and shifts in alliance) - hell, you need a score
card to keep track of all that now. Putting this brat in
charge of anything bigger than a lemonade stand is asking for
trouble. Michael should be worrying about things like prom, calculus
and college applications, not being in the mob and being forced to
hide his crime.
