Imagine my completely stunned surprise when I tuned in last week
and saw AUDREY! And BOBBIE! And LESLEY! In the same episode! In the
same scenes! In more than one scene! I'm sorry, I just hallucinated
- WHAT!? The very occasional smidgens of Bobbie and Lesley are a
given and they're always a welcome sight, but the goddess Audrey is
someone I honestly didn't think I would ever see again, so the show
hit the trifecta as far as surprises go. Yep, I didn't know it was
going to happen, thus I had to make sure I was not dreaming. I would
still love to see the show honor the First Lady of Port Charles by
throwing a retirement bash for nurse Audrey (and original cast
member Rachel Ames, whose contribution to the show will never be
matched) and invite a few past long timers (like Lee and Gail) for a
cameo. You would literally make our day.
Has GH finally seen the light? The show is really showing some
improvement. The dialogue is snappy and compelling and, like I just
mentioned, we're seeing vets we grew up with being utilized. Okay,
it's not much but we're not going to look a gift veteran appearance
in the mouth. Did someone get the memo that what we want to see is
good storytelling and let the characters drive the story, not the
plot? These people have enough faults and past secrets to keep the
writers busy for quite some time. Of course there is getting the
memo and actually reading the memo. Baby steps.
The Claudia saga looks to be winding down and seeing a seething
Jason was yet another surprise. Usually Jason just issues orders and
show little emotion while doing it but Claudia is a different story.
Jason and Sam happened upon a recording in Dr. Devlin's personal
effects that could implicate Claudia in Michael's shooting. The
recording initially didn't offer much and a desperate Jason demanded
Spinelli come up with the evidence - it really showed just how
important nailing the person responsible for Michael's shooting is
to Jason. He clearly demonstrated that he is not out to get Claudia
just because of his intense dislike for her - his love for Michael
and his knowledge of Claudia's guilt were written all over that
stone-cold face of his. More evidence was found and Jason knew he
had Claudia over a barrel. Now we wait and see what happens next,
especially since Sonny seems to have since dismissed his original
belief that Claudia was behind the shooting. Well, her days are
numbered.
In other news, I can't be the only person that agrees with Kate
about telling Dante that Sonny is his father. Olivia's reason for
keeping this a secret are making less and less sense every day. I'm
going to take a gander that she kept Dante from Sonny to protect him
from Sonny's mobster lifestyle. So.... is he or is he not in even
more danger now? Kate is right. If Sonny finds out Dante is
undercover, the guy is complete toast. Olivia can either tell Sonny
that Dante is his kid and save Dante, or she can tell Dante and let
him haul butt out of there fast before Sonny wises up. Keeping quiet
is no longer an appealing option. Stressing about it all is not
going to come up with a solution, Olivia, and frankly we're a little
tired of hearing you whine about it. You found a way to turn the
tables on Claudia, now toss that mane of yours and come up with a
feasible way out of this too. It ain't rocket science. I know that
when Sonny finds out he sired Dante and that Dante was out to get
him that Sonny will throw a hissy-fit, start throwing barware and
yelling "You're dead to me." Or are those days over and Sonny might
actually deal with this in a rational manner? Yeah, right.
I did want to let you know that an interview with Becky Herbst
(Liz) is in the works - I will let you know if and when I actually
get our beauty on tape!
