CHRONICLES
Shining Star

GH takes a humorous turn that stood out.

This past week, GH proved that when fun takes precedence over
gloom and violence, it can make for some pretty entertaining shows.
Who was not absolutely roaring at Maxie's dream of her future with
Spinelli? Spinelli was suddenly confident and self-assured (and
spoke understandable English!) while he and Jason meticulously
plotted their next mob move. Jason was not given much to do in these
dream scenes but his deer-in-the-headlights looks and indifference
to the situation around him was enough. Maxie was saddled with 2.5
kids, Jason's apartment was a total wreck (loved the sippy cup on
the mantle)... Lulu breezes in, now a completely shallow fashion
icon with bad hair (hilarious!) but the real highlight was Mac. Mac
apparently lost his mind after Spin and Maxie got married and John
J. York ran with these scenes as he portrayed Mac as a babbling
fool. "I have the right to remain silent," he kept saying over and
over as Patrick cleaned up the drool and gave him one of the kids'
toys to occupy him. Even while Lulu and Maxie were speaking to each
other, I was watching York in the background, hysterically taking
this entire sequence hostage. Maxie is awakened by Robin and Lulu
and sputters that she saw her future and it included granny panties.
I'm still laughing.
The fact is, Maxie did not want to get married and ultimately,
the wedding did not take place. But I was still hoping that Spinelli
would realize that he was no more ready for matrimony than Maxie was
and he would halt the ceremony. What did happen was that he
overheard Maxie telling Jason her fears about marriage. Darn it, now
I am wondering a few things, like when or if that little tidbit will
come out, for starters, and is Spinelli more heartbroken and hurt
than he is letting on?
And I simply have to say it: How hot were Sam and Jason? These
two were sneaking kisses in the wedding hall and when he put his tie
around her neck and started tying it, I was a goner. Maybe it's
because seeing Jason doing anything besides waving a gun makes him
interesting to me. But that scene was sexy as hell. Ironically,
Jason caught the garter and Sam the bouquet so what heavy-handed
anvil does that represent? Doesn't matter, the thing about JaSam
part 2 is that each knows where the other has been since the first
time around and the attraction is taking it's own course. There's no
baggage, no hidden resentments, no nothing. It's just them and it's
working, at least I think so.
Mac continued to be entertaining at the reception for the
non-wedding by throwing back a few drinks and, I swear, flirting
with Alexis! She has always been attracted to men with a dangerous
streak (and some that were just plain dangerous) so would Alexis and
the unassuming Mac work as a pairing? Well it would give both
woefully underused actors something to do. And while they may not
sound exciting on paper (on monitor?) what could be brought to the
screen could be hotter than Hades. It's all a pipe dream of mine at
the moment but hey, it's worth a shot.
