The story of KD begins
in Eldorado (pronounced Elder Raydo), Illinois, “home of 5,200 friendly
people and 1 ole sorehead.” She was one of the few of the 5,201 to abandon
the cornfields for browner pastures (well, an oasis within a big brown desert
still counts as a browner pasture). It was UCLA that called her to Southern
California where she has remained these past several years for unbelievable
weather and a few more things to do than one might find back in Eldorado.
KD graduated from
Southern Illinois University with a degree in history: a degree people foresaw
as a waste of time and money. KD still disagrees with those nay-sayers who never
could understand that it was history that first stole her heart (she would still
claim history as her first love). It was at UCLA that KD earned her Juris
Doctorate, a.k.a. destructor of idealism. Yes, she went to law school with
high hopes of changing the world. Though she is not likely to admit it today,
she didn’t set off thinking she might change the world, she just knew she would
change it. She still hopes to make a difference but she knows it’s not going to
be through the practice of law.
Not so long ago, and shortly after her fairytale wedding
in Venice, Italy to her one true love, KD decided it was time to leave the
practice of law in order to pursue her true calling: writing. She took a day job
with fewer responsibilities and a lot more flexibility (and is unbelievably
happy with her choice). It was about this time KD introduced herself to Nina –
Soaptown USA’s web-mistress extraordinaire - who offered KD the chance of a
lifetime: to write about her favorite show of all time, One Life to Live.
KD was born watching OLTL. She rushed out of the womb, at
1:45 pm on a cold November day back in 1974, to catch the last 15 minutes and
has been a devout fan ever since. She is, in fact, still begging forgiveness of
her brothers who lost many a movie and sports event tape to episodes of OLTL
(though she’s pretty sure they’re getting over it).
Nowadays when KD isn’t working, hanging out with her husband and precious
kitties or watching One Life to Live, she can be found traveling, writing and
researching an obscure era of Ancient Egyptian history in which she plans to set
her first of many novels.
