 LOUNGING  N  LA

Even though I’m no fan of Katie’s, last week wasn’t too bad.

At least we got to see William DeVry again

The disappointment and disgust with the Katie Logan show gets louder and louder each week, doesn’t it? Poor pitiful Katie, on nearly every day. Poor pitiful Katie, her actions tearing up the people around her she loves. Poor pitiful Katie, finding out she’s got a little sailor on the way and the daddy is quite happy about it but his wife, her neice, is going to freak. Geesh, I’m tired of Poor Pitiful Katie. The thing is, the vast majority of you are, too. I’m told that the backlash of letters, calls, emails and complaints get stronger and stronger every single week that Poor Pitiful Katie continues to monopolize the time of the other characters on the show, including the Core Four….well, make that Five, according to Barbara. (me and her need to have a talk, while Nick is one of my personal favorites, I believe I’d classify Taylor before Nick as more of a Classic 5 than Nick. I do, however, agree that Nick is now as much a part of the show as Brooke or Ridge and I look forward to the day they redeem Mr. Moron….I mean Marone.)

Again while I’m no fan of Katie’s, there were parts of last week that I actually enjoyed. Heather Tom is a fantastic actress, no denying that, and many of her scenes with Jack Wagner were heart-tugging. Problem is, the ‘woe is me’ thing is just a little bit OLD, and at times she borders on over-acting. I blame the latter on the writers, because Heather Tom can bang out any script they give her and make it believable, but when the writers constantly have her boo-hooing and melodramatic, it sort of makes her LOOK like she’s over-acting. Still, I have a HUGE problem with Katie and Nick as a couple, even larger than I had with Nick and Bridget. More on that later, though, now it’s time to get down and dirty for a few minutes.

RIDGE PULLED THE PLUG, huh. So what if Eric didn’t die? So what if Ridge ‘thought’ he heard Eric in his mind saying to let him go? The ONLY person that should be able to make any decisions on whether or not a person is removed from life support is his/her SPOUSE, not the offspring. Donna had Eric’s POA, it was her decision and her right to pull any plugs or make any decisions on behalf of Eric. I can’t believe I’m defending Donna in this, but Ridge Forrester just made himself an even MUCH larger target for fan hatred, even larger than when he climbed those stairs with the intent of emotionally and sexually battering Brooke into saying ‘YES’ after months of saying ‘NO’. Did Ridge and Brooke just grab each other in a huge emotional meltdown because someone they loved had just died and turned to each other, leading to sex? No. Ridge walked up those stairs with the INTENTS and PURPOSE of strong arming AN ENGAGED WOMAN into changing her mind, even if it meant seducing her. Honey, in any court in the country, that’s RAPE, and even if Ridge thought Brooke was responding, he went up there KNOWING she was saying ‘no’, so Ridge has a huge viewer base already that hates his guts. Now, thanks to pulling the plug on Eric, he’s going to look even more pathetic, more disgusting and the character is going to be despised double what he has been. My advice would be to break up the boring Bridge and pair Ridge with a new, sexy woman if there’s any chance of redemption for the spoiled, egotistical a&&hole who continues to think he needs to be in control. He had a good pairing in Ashley, and whoever made the decision to break that pair up needs to be forced to watch Leave it to Beaver episodes for 2 weeks straight, then be forced to watch the first 10 years of Bold when stories meant something and it wasn’t just enragement, plot devices and fast turns on a dime.

Speaking of fast turns, so now Nick is happy he’s going to be a daddy again? This little baby is a gift from God, meant to be? They’ll work through it??? All I can say is poor Nick. That’s right, poor NICK. Not Poor Katie, or poor Bridget. Nick is the one that’s being done dirty here. Katie thought she was dying, and I dare any one of you who attacks Katie on a daily basis to sit and think about how you’d feel, how you’d react if the doc told you that you had maybe a few weeks left to live? Katie turned to Nick for comfort just like Brooke did, like Taylor did. Nick is that kind of a guy. He’s sweet, lovable, funny and he has a huge heart. He’s got a soft spot for women, can’t stand seeing them abused or hurting and at times he goes out of his way including doing things he doesn’t find either appeasing or morally right to keep someone from hurting. I feel sorry for Nick because Katie is playing on him like a crybaby, Bridget is obsessed with him and has been for years, Brooke continues to stay involved in his life and Taylor dumped him. Nick, the poor guy, has no backbone and his jewels in his hands, ready to hand them over to any woman who will be the mother of his child. COME ON, you don’t honestly think he was in love with Bridget, do you??? EVEN BRIDGET saw the connection between Nick and Katie. I don’t feel a bit sorry for Bridget for what she’s got coming up, it was her own stupid fault for shoving Nick Katie’s way and telling him to make her feel good like only ‘he’ knew how.

Nick was dead right last week, Bridget knew they might end up in the sack, she is in denial about it. Bridget is doing nothing but continuously peeing on Nick’s leg over and over. ‘Let’s have another christening…I want Katie to be the godmother…Jack and I have a playdate with Mommies and babies…” ((ROLLING EYES)) One of my readers said it best, she thinks Bridget secretly dresses Jack in little pink outfits when Nick’s not home. Nope, don’t feel a bit sorry for Bridget, she never should have gotten married to a man who weeks earlier was begging her mother to move in. ((AND YES, I think the same thing about Taylor…she shouldn’t have gotten involved with a man Brooke left her acidic, rotting juice on.)) Do I put ANY blame on Nick for Katie being pregnant, knowing he was committed to Bridget? Nope. Know why? He was played. Katie played him for a crying post, Bridget played him for a security blanket to throw over Katie, and earlier had emotionally blackmailed him into marriage. All Nick deep down cares for is ‘that boy’ and having a live in mommy for him, and Bridget played to that. She’s as obsessed with Nick as her mother ever was for Ridge. So no, I don’t blame this entire situation on Nick. He has absolutely no sense when it comes to women like the Logans who use and abuse. If he had it his way, he would have been happy forever with Brooke, then with Taylor. He’s with Bridget only because he can’t have the former two.

So we got Katie pregnant, Bridget wanting to be, Brooke and Ridge acting like Eric and Stephanie ‘tolerating’ each other with a few sexual release scenes thrown in and barely Taylor, Rick, Thorne, Felicia and no kids in sight anywhere but Jack when Bridget needs to slobber over him. At least I get to watch Marcus and Steffy, and I know that Stephanie is coming back soon to clean house, take names and throw the trash out. YAAYY!! Donna is soon to be at the receiving end of the wrath of the Head Bitch, the Royal Majesty of Stephanie. I’m there, I’m there! I also think Stephanie is going to be supportive of Marcus and Steffy and that’s one couple I’m actually interested in. I think the dynamics of Donna’s son with Taylor/Ridge’s daughter and Brooke thrown in for good measure is not only going to be dynamite storytelling, but FUN!!!! We’ll see. Here’s a few random thoughts about last week…

  • “OH WIDGEY, You’we the head of the famiwy, everwyone will be wooking to you for guidance in this howwible owar to make decisions about Ewic!!!!!’….someone gag me. Better yet, GAG HER. GAG BROOKE already. I swear, I think she must know what Ridge had for supper yesterday, her lips are so far up his colon. They’ve taken a vibrant, sexy, troublemaking vixen and turned her into Ridge’s new hemorrhoid pad. It’s totally disgusting. I loved hating Brooke and I want that Brooke back. I’M SICK of this new pod Brooke, the new TucksBrooke, soothing Ridge’s ego, his sting and being there for his support. Is Ridge any better with his whining last week??? Acting like an 18 year old instead of a near fifty year old man?? ‘Daddy was always there for me, I don’t know how I’m going to survive without him’. Oh puleeeeze. Ridge is making this more about HIS loss than about the family loss if Eric does die, and him pulling the plug does nothing but prove that. He knew Donna was the only one with the right and authority to make that life decision and even if she didn’t, Eric has 5 other children, all of them his NATURAL children, who should have a sayso in it, too. People have survived and went on to have productive lives after going through what he is now. BOOOO Ridge. BOOOO Brooke. I’m sick of the both of them.
  • I’m hearing it was Susan Flannery’s idea to change the scenes, the music and the filming of the show where the camera speeds up, hones in on things and changes scenes….FAN-FRIKKEN-TASTIC. I love it. It’s giving the show less of a ‘soap’ feel and more of a surreal feel, almost like you’re in another world, and it works!
  • So Taylor is treating Beth??? BROOKE’S mother??? Did you ever notice that when Brooke wants something or Taylor is in her way, she calls Taylor every name in the book and doesn’t mind trying to rip her world apart, but when one of her family INCLUDING HERSELF needs psychiatric help (which is often) it’s always Taylor they turn to??? Yeah, they know Taylor has a good heart and is a good doctor, that’s why. If I were Taylor, I would have told Brooke to save her bawling for Child Protective back when she was in tears saying what a bad mother she was, could Taylor help her, she was in love with two men, blah blah blah, then tell Beth ‘Sorry, toots, your problems stem from having kids who are selfish, morally bankrupt and users, find Sigmond’. That’s our Taylor, always there for someone else.
  • How dare Brooke once again use Baby Jack??? ‘His christening will bring the family together’. Like I said earlier, GAG HER. QUICKLY. That’s right Brooke, go on and use Jack again, talk about his spiritual well-being when one day someone will have to explain why he’s got YOUR dna. ‘Well Jack, it’s like this, see, your biological mother Brooke wanted your father so badly even though he was with your mother, that she snuck to the hospital and demanded your step-mommy Bridget run some tests on her to make sure she could steal your daddy from your mother and somewhere along the lines your step-mother goofed and you ended up being born.”….Poor kid. Just like Hope and RJ, he’s going to need counseling because his mother is a piece of trash. Look at Rick and Bridget, prime examples of how kids can grow up emotionally disturbed if their mother shoves them aside for a man most of their lives.
  • Ok, I’m getting kind of tired of Nick and his magic penis. That’s right, I said it. It healed Brooke, it healed Taylor and now it healed Katie. Someone should get a cell sample and clone it so that women all over the world can overcome even death by a few dips on the Nick Stick. Maybe being married to Dr. DoogieBridget is a GOOD thing, if she can’t find a cure, then he sure can give you one. It’s time they settled Nick down with a decent woman, and to me that’s not Katie or Bridget. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I honestly believe they should reunite either Taylor and Nick, or Brooke and Nick. While some people may say there’s no hope for either couple and both will reek of spoilage, I need to remind you how many times Tridge broke up and got back together and remained strong for over fifteen years. It can happen, done right.
  • I loved I loved I loved I LOVED the William DeVry/Heather Tom scenes. Brilliantly done, fantastically written, fabulously acted and scenes I actually rewinded and watched over and over. WHY Brad Bell ever thought getting rid of Big Brother Storm was a good idea is beyond me. When Katie almost caught up to Storm, he turned around and was this scary clown thingy, I about peed my pants. I was screaming ‘SWIM, SWIM!!!’ for a minute, then ‘DROWN her, DROWN her!!!’ for another few minutes. I know, I know, BAD Megs, BAD Megs…I did absolutely love those scenes. Best I’ve seen on Bold in a long time.
  •

Unfortunately, though, we’re going to have to choke through more Katie suffering, Bridget obviously in denial and Nick trying to cover his butt scenes. Maybe someone up at writers’ headquarters will wise up and figure out NOBODY likes the triangle.

    Here’s some funnies for you…..

How about a dumb question…. OBVIOUSLY nobody likes Katie/Nick, and very few people can stomach Bridget/Nick. Would you rather see Brooke back with Nick, or Taylor, and why??

It’s also time again for “PMSing….Posting MY Sayso!”….regular readers know that once a month, I turn the column over to you, the readers, to voice your opinion, slam your fist, compliment who you will or otherwise just step up to the plate to let it all hang out. Drop me a line if you want to be this month’s PMSer, to be read in over 27 countries and perhaps by someone who may make a difference.

Until next week, I’m off to play with my Bold and Beautiful ball.

    Megs
