“Fortunate”, is the one word that William deVry is using to describe himself and his life nowadays. On January 23, William made his debut on All My Children as the mysterious Michael Cambias. William is no stranger to television. Before landing in Pine Valley, his tenure on primetime was very impressive He was on hit shows such as, Nash Bridges, Stargate: SG1 and countless others, before landing the recurring role of Timothy Dolan on ABC’s Port Charles.

When asked what he felt was the biggest difference between primetime and daytime was he said, "In Primetime you have more creativity with your blocking and the behavior of your character, as opposed to daytime where everything is very technical and you are trying to make it look as natural as possible. On daytime they want movement from one cut to the next, it’s amazing to me how everyone is, I have a lot of respect for all of the cast and crew " deVry continues.

He went on to explain what a typical day is like for him. "Every set is  up and you move from scene to scene, if you are only filming on one set, you may end up learning and shooting 35 pages of script; if you are on two different sets, then you will have a break. Its not unusual to do everything at once, you really have to know your stuff, if not then you will fall behind.  I also spend my weekends learning the scripts for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and then learn Thursday’s scripts on Wednesday night, so again you really have to know your stuff and procrastination is definitely not an option in this business."

Even though Michael Cambias has been in Pine Valley a short time, he has captured the heart of Kendall Hart, played by Alicia Minshew. I asked him what it was like to work with Alicia, since their chemistry is amazing and exudes all over the screen. "Alicia is a wonderful actress, its easy to look into her eyes and react, just be in the moment, we are able to work well with one another."

It’s quite obvious that William is one of the hottest new stars to grace our television screens over the last few months, but William feels a little different (laughing)  "I don’t know who they are looking at, I am not sure how to react, it’s kind of embarrassing, I mean they can see Marc Menard (Boyd) and Maximillian Alexander (Carlos) everyday. When I look in the mirror I just see me."

"Fantastic and wonderful" are two words that William is using to describe his time at All My Children. "Everyone is in good spirits, it’s a great place to work and a very creative place as well."  Although his time on All My Children has been short, he mentions that he really has not had the time to really get to know the cast and crew as of yet," We are trying to get everyone together at one time, so we can all get to know one another, it has been a revolving door with newcomers coming in and going.”  deVry went on to say that Thorsten Kaye (Ian, PC) was his mentor in daytime. "Thorsten was great, he offered me lots of advice, and we would just sit and talk, which loosened me up.. He has helped me establish a path to handle the days and schedule of daytime.”

We discussed what advice he would offer to people from his point of view and experience who wanted to break into acting.....

"Immerse yourself in acting classes for a good year before going on auditions or even seeking out an agent, learn how to break down a script, the objective of a scene and how to make things interesting.  After that, sacrifice as much as you can today for the pay off tomorrow; you have to know that it is going to happen, if you have any doubts, then do not get into this business… It will happen and you have to have faith that it is going to happen". He also mentions "that you need to be a good business person, so you know what to do with your money to make it work for you."

Will remembers fondly the day he found out that he landed the role on All My Children. "I was in Florida where I was residing and was at the gym when my management team called and they ALL said congratulations you got it.. (laughing) I was jumping around and was very excited, I was speechless… I finally settled down and called my parents and told them the good news, afterwards, I finished my workout."

Fans are clamoring to know just who is Michael Cambias and what exactly is his motive for being in Pine Valley  "It has somewhat been revealed who he is, everyone wants a piece of this guy, and he is trying to protect his identity. The two words that would best describe this guy are driven and wealthy."

In his spare time William says that he enjoys "Working out, entertaining and being spontaneous. I like getting on a plane and going anywhere.  I plan to go to France for the D-Day anniversary, I am very big into history.”

William  mentions that if he should ever leave daytime, the area of  entertainment he would like to explore is comedy, "I have fun with comedy, but I am also looking for anything that will give me a good challenge."
